This week has been ridiculously long, so bear with me.
Last weekend Jen and I began the process of fixing up my apartment. On Friday night, after an awesome dinner at the Garlic Rose, we put this paint stripper stuff all over the bathroom door, window and molding, because they are really nice carved wood, but covered in thirty layers of sloppy paint. The next day, we spent a good amount of time scraping and chiseling that crap off, before finally giving up and surrendering to the calling of Thai Basil down the block. Sunday, I visited with Chris, Gina and baby Ava for a bit, and then returned upstairs to put a coat of paint on the living room: Latte. Looks great. Finished off the night with a visit to Monster Sushi with Jen.
On Monday, I was up late and back on the road to CT. Once I got here, I found out that it was time to jump back into the fray regarding this crazy system we have been trying to install. Basically, its a whole political mess involving three groups from three countries, none of which are the people that developed this thing. Now, I am trying to put it in, and no one wants to help because they feel like it might be some sort of implicit statement of ownership. Either way, this thing involves the use of ActaWorks and Kalido all on top of Oracle with this awkward little ASP interface to the whole thing. All I can say is luckily I know a little bit about coding ASP, because it allowed me to fix a couple of problems that came up this week.
Anyway…Monday night, I had to do all of my reading for my new Information Assurance course. Tuesday, work was followed by a Data Modelling Training Session until 8. Last night, I had a presentation on this new architecture that the company is offering, followed by a course on the Business Area Architecture which lasted about four hours. In the middle of the course, we also had a chat with the folks from my IA class. Whew. Afterwards, it was 9, so I headed to Vazzy’s where they served me up a mean grilled pork loin with grilled squash and peppers on the side with a bowl of their awesome pasta.
That pretty much does it for the week. Today, I dug into ActaWorks and got a bunch of stuff done there. It’s actually not that hard to use. Somewhere during the week, I managed to give the installation of Blogcomments a whirl, although, after it appeared to be working, it stopped working, plus it doesn’t even have a comment counter, so I took it out, and now I’m going to try ASPComments to see how that one fares. Damn, that’s a mouthful.
This weekend, it looks like it will be dinner with the Lo’s on Friday followed by more painting on Saturday (second coat on the living room and starting on the bathroom). It’s weird being busy again, but I kind of like it. I don’t feel as useless. By the way, got the new Paul Weller last weekend, and it rules. It’s called Illumination and you should pick it up too. I also caught The Majestic on cable this week and loved it, and I am about 80% of the way through The Corrections which I am loving as well. I know that was all quite a jumble, but you’ll deal I’m sure……if any of you still read this thing that is. Later.
