Big news day. Apparently, last night, Great White (you remember, the band that did “Rock Me”, “Lady Red Light” and “Once Bitten Twice Shy”) was playing a club up in Rhode Island, where they set off Pyrotechnics during the first song. Apparently, the whole stage immediately caught fire (and so did the guitarist). People started running for the exit, as the whole club went up in flames. There were no fire extinguishers or sprinklers, and basically, over 60 people either were burned to death or trampled, and over a hundred people are injured with serious burns in the hospital. Great White’s guitarist is still missing. Also, it looks like all Rhode Island government officials are jockeying to position the band as the culprits rather than the club owners who obviously didn’t have their act together.
Also, a short while ago, a natural gas barge exploded in Staten Island and now there are huge amounts of black smoke coming from the refinery. Supposedly, you can see the whole thing from my place, so I should find out about that soon.
This weekend, Jen and I are heading down to Washington, DC for the International Wine Festival. Yes, this is the same one that we went to last year. Today it is my parents’ birthday, so Happy Birthday Mom and Dad.
